Hundreds in protest march against St George Gypsy site plan

More than 200 people staged a protest on Saturday about plans for a Gypsy and traveller site in Conwy county.

Residents in St George, near Bodelwyddan, are opposing plans at Smithy Layby, off St Asaph Road.

The council has also earmarked a second site at Bangor Road, Conwy, saying it is obliged to provide land for Gypsy and traveller communities. It has started a consultation on the plans, external.

Tim Rowlands, chairman of the St George Gypsy Traveller Group, said this area is not the right location.
