Family raise £110,000 for Freya Bevan's US tumour therapy

A toddler with a rare brain tumour is to have specialist treatment in the United States after family and friends raised £110,000.

Two-year-old Freya Bevan, from Neath, will travel to Oklahoma on Wednesday to have proton beam therapy for three months.

Freya has already had surgery and chemotherapy to treat her tumour but part of it remains.

Her parents John-Paul and Katherine Bevan say doctors have advised them that proton beam therapy would be the best way to rid her of the growth.

But it is not available in the UK and their application for funding was turned down.

They have raised £110,000 for her treatment and the charity Kids 'n' Cancer has agreed to underwrite any shortfall in costs.
