Venice Biennale: Helen Sear inspired by tree markings

A Monmouthshire photographer is preparing to unveil her entry at a contemporary art festival.

Helen Sear, from Raglan, has been chosen to represent Wales at Venice Biennale, which has been called the Olympics of contemporary art.

The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) said there was growing acclaim for her "high quality, conceptually rigorous work".

Ms Sear, who is based at the University of South Wales in Newport, said it had long been her ambition to represent Wales in Venice.

She explained to BBC arts and media correspondent Huw Thomas how the inspiration for her exhibition was close to home.
