Glan Clwyd Hospital: Call for independent review

The head of a medical committee has called for an independent review of the health board in charge of the mental health unit described as being 'like a zoo'.

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) said patients at Glan Clwyd Hospital's Tawel Fan ward were failed.

Families of patients at the hospital, in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, said relatives looked like captured animals in a zoo in a damning independent report.

Now, Dr Eamonn Jessup, chairman of the North Wales local medical committee, wants further action to be taken against Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
