Flybe flights hope to turn around Cardiff Airport

Passenger numbers have dropped at Cardiff airport by 7% in the last 12 months but bosses have said new services by airline operator Flybe should help turn around its fortunes.

Flights to Belfast, Dusseldorf, Geneva and Jersey will be increased.

The first minister said the airline was part of a long-term strategy for the airport, which is owned by the Welsh government.

Despite major improvements to the facilities, Cardiff has continued to struggle to attract passengers. The latest figures show just over a million people travelled from the airport in the last year.
