Operation Jasmine: 'Appalling' experiences of older people in care

The author of highly critical review of an investigation into alleged abuse at south Wales' care homes says elderly people suffered "appalling" experiences.

Dr Margaret Flynn's review found those providing the care were "impervious to the needs of older people".

First Minister Carwyn Jones said he expected a response from any organisa`tion highlighted in the report which he commissioned in 2013 in the "absence of criminal proceedings".

Operation Jasmine focused on six care homes in south Wales and cost £15m.

Launched by Gwent Police in 2005 after the death of an 84-year-old woman, it involved 75 police officers over seven years.

Dr Flynn said concerns were first raised in 1995.
