Pay cuts for museum workers are 'deeply unfair', says union

Plans to stop extra payments for weekend and bank holiday museum staff are "deeply unfair", a union representative has said.

Six of Wales' national museums are shut or partially closed this weekend as staff strike.

A National Museum Wales spokeswoman said a 6% salary rise for low-paid workers and a living wage of £7.85 an hour would mitigate the loss.

Speaking outside the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea, Peter Hill, branch secretary for the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) Union at National Museum Wales, said workers would continue to push for a compromise.
