Girls feel 'pressure' from social media

Apparent pressure put on teenage girls from social media has been highlighted at one Conwy county school with some saying they feel judged by the number of "likes" they have from their posts on sites such as Facebook and Instagram.

Teacher Sally Hancocks said she was "saddened and shocked" by some of the insights shared by a number of girls who felt "constrained by the conventions laid down by social media and the expectations to do with image".

The 14-15-year-old girls at Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno, told Elecia Hinds on BBC Radio Wales they committed a large amount of time to considering what to put online each day while others said they felt "happier" after quitting social media altogether.
