Ched Evans rape case to be reviewed by Court of Appeal

Former Wales and Sheffield United footballer Ched Evans has had his rape conviction referred to the Court of Appeal for review.

Evans, 26, was jailed for five years in 2012 after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman at a hotel near Rhyl.

He was released last year after serving half of his sentence.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) referred the conviction after his lawyers submitted fresh defence evidence.

Matthew Richards reports.
