Why 'tired and hormonal' robots could be a good thing

The idea of making reliable robots with hormones may seem counterintuitive.

But there are benefits to allowing some automated machines to operate using a so-called endocrine system.

BBC Wales spoke to Aberystwyth University's intelligent robotics group to find out why a robot that gets "tired" and "hormonal" could be useful.

PHD student Jim Finnis explains how mini-Mars rover Blodwen has trialled the concept.
