£580k new lease of life for Carmarthen's velodrome

The glory days could be set to return to Carmarthen's velodrome after a £580k investment.

Built in 1900, it was packed out during the 1920s and 30s with riders from all over the world competing on its track.

Carmarthenshire council agreed on Monday to give £286,000 to a renovation project after Sport Wales pledged £296,000.

The local authority hopes it will increase interest in cycling and bring high class racing to the area.
