Tears as blaze hits Cwmbran infants school
An investigation is under way into a fire at a primary school in Cwmbran early on New Year's Day.
The fire wrecked the Coed Eva infants and nursery school building, which 200 pupils normally use.
Ten fire crews fought through the night to stop the blaze spreading to the junior school building.
South Wales Fire and Rescue said they were called to a fire in a single storey school building at about 02:25 GMT.
Local residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed at the height of the fire.
Parents and children, some of them in tears, gathered outside the school to survey the damage.
