Sheep rescued by RSPCA staff from Tryfan mountain ledge

A sheep stuck for several days on a mountain ledge in Snowdonia has been rescued by RSPCA inspectors.

It was spotted on the side of Tryfan mountain and was unable to move out of danger, said a spokesman.

Staff using ropes lowered themselves 100m (328ft) on to the ledge to rescue the animal despite difficult weather conditions.

It was caught and put in a sack to enable it to be taken to safety.

Inspector Mike Pugh said: "Once released from the bag the sheep was so hungry he just stayed nearby feeding, while we sorted out all the ropes and equipment."
