How GCSEs in Wales and England are starting to change

The GCSE results in Wales are out on Thursday.

Performance for the grades A* to C has been the same for the last two years with 66.6% of exam entries falling into this top band.

But the exam system is getting more complicated, reforms are on the way - and it will not be as straightforward from next year when making comparisons, especially with other UK nations.

A whole set of new GCSEs are being introduced in Wales as part of reforms, while from 2017, the way grades are awarded will change completely in England.
