Aberfan: 'A lot of men shed tears that day'

The man who was the first to call emergency services to the scene of the Aberfan disaster has spoken to BBC Radio Wales.

On 21 October 1966, a mountain of coal waste slid down into a school and houses in the Welsh village, killing 144 people, including 116 children.

In an emotional interview, David Evans told BBC Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales the scene when he arrived was, "indescribable, beyond comprehension".

"A lot of men shed some tears that day," he said. "And I was one of them".
