Swansea MP calls for end to child burial charges

An MP who had to borrow money and take out a loan so she could bury her eight-year-old son after he was killed in a road accident calls for an end to burial fees for children.

Swansea East Labour MP Carolyn Harris said she struggled to afford funeral costs after her son Martin's death in 1989.

Twenty five years on, she is backing a campaign calling on Chancellor Philip Hammond to abolish council burial charges for children.
