Valero plans for Pembrokeshire oil refinery 'good news'

The owner of a Pembrokeshire oil refinery has submitted £100m plans to maintain its "viability" and "secure future jobs".

Valero want to build a combined heat and power cogeneration unit at Pembroke refinery.

The unit will provide power to the refinery, as well as supplementing its steam demand.

Valero said it was in the "early stages" of the proposal and would not make a final decision until next year.

Pembrokeshire council's cabinet member for the economy and communities, Councillor Keith Lewis, said the investment was "really good news".
