Coal-powered stations to be shut by 2025

The last supplies of coal from Tower Colliery have arrived at a south Wales power station - but there is still hope it can adapt and survive.

The power station in Aberthaw has been taking Welsh coal for decades but this 1,450 tonne delivery on Wednesday afternoon was one of the final ones.

Coal used to come from the deep mines of the south Wales valleys until the final underground operation at Tower - re-opened by the miners themselves 13 years earlier - closed down in 2008.
