Snap election 'idiocy' says veteran Labour MP Ann Clwyd
The veteran Welsh Labour MP Ann Clwyd has described a snap general election as "idiocy" and an act of "self-preservation" by the prime minister.
The MP was the only Welsh MP out of the 13 who voted on Wednesday against calling the election.
First elected to represent the Cynon Valley constituency in 1984, and before that a Welsh MEP, the 80-year-old has said she will stand again in June.
Ms Clwyd told BBC Wales that the election was all about Brexit - and other areas of Welsh life would suffer as a result.
