Livestock attacks 'not taken seriously' by dog owners

Farmer Derek Jones from Tremeirchion in Denbighshire returned home from selling stock at the sheep market to find a dog among his ewe lambs.

It had escaped from a house nearby and had been attacking the sheep for more than two-and-a-half hours.

He has backed calls for police forces across the UK to record incidents of dog attacks on farm animals.

North Wales Police's rural crime team has recorded 449 livestock attacks since it was set up in 2013.
