Loan shark Robert Sparey 'threatened to set house on fire'

The victim of a jailed loan shark has claimed he threatened to set her house on fire when she could not repay him.

Robert Sparey, 55, from Caerphilly, who claimed disability benefits, handed out illegal loans of about £250,000.

He admitted illegal money lending over 20 years, along with other offences, at Cardiff Crown Court.

The victim, who did not want to be identified, said she turned to him for a loan when she was in need but he made threats when she could not keep up repayments.
