Covid: Systems 'not equipped' for face mask disposal
Waste management systems are "not equipped" to handle the amount of plastic being thrown away - including from face masks, researchers have found.
Swansea University scientists said disposable face masks could be releasing chemical pollutants and plastics into the environment.
They are calling for be better regulation and more research carried out into their disposal.
