Betsi Cadwaladr board's communication 'bad' - BMA

Doctors who passed a no confidence motion in Betsi Cadwaladr health board say their communication with staff remains bad two years after a damning report into management failings.

The group from Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, took the action to express their unhappiness at a decision to temporarily suspend consultant-led obstetrics and gynaecology services for 18 months and move the service to hospitals in Bangor and Wrexham.

Staff could be moved to the hospitals from 6 April.

Dr Richard Lewis, secretary of the British Medical Association, said: "The situation in terms of the board's ability to communicate with its frontline staff are as bad if not worse than ever," he told BBC Wales.

"That gap seems not be closing; in fact on this particular issue it seems to be widening, which is a real worry."
