Lib Dems say Labour 'failed' to give Wales fair funding

The Liberal Democrats are delivering fair funding for Wales which the last Labour government failed to do so in more than 10 years in power, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander has said.

It comes as arguments continue over the UK government's pledge to set a minimum funding floor for the Welsh government.

First Minister Carwyn Jones rejected it as a "vague promise" which should not depend on a referendum on tax powers.

But Mr Alexander told the Welsh Liberal Democrats' conference in Cardiff on Sunday that his party was delivering on devolution where Labour had failed.
