A-levels forward momentum in Wales continues, Lewis says
Education Minister Huw Lewis has said the "forward momentum" of improving A-level results continues as the 2015 results for Wales showed an increase in the pass rate at top grades.
A total of 7.3% of students got A* grades, up from 6.7% but still short of the UK average of 8.2%.
But the overall pass rate fell from 97.5% to 97.3% and Wales is lower than Northern Ireland, England and any of its regions.
Mr Lewis, visiting Bassaleg School, Newport, said it was "another strong performance" and pledged to help further improve results and access to university for successful students.
