Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock in 'power or protest' challenge
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock has urged left-wingers in the party to choose between the pursuit of "democratic power" or "perpetual demonstration".
Lord Kinnock, who is backing Andy Burnham for the Labour leadership, accused some in the Labour movement of resorting to "a posture of resistance" and "corrosive" self-indulgence.
He told the BBC's Newsnight programme that the left needed to decide if it wanted to compete for power or simply register a protest.
