Jeremy Corbyn: Strong unions boost the economy

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has spoken out against plans to restrict public sector strikes following a protest march in Cardiff.

He accused the Tories of "taking away the most effective means of securing better pay and working conditions" with the Trade Union Bill.

The UK government aims to permit strikes in key public services like health and education only if they are backed by 40% of union members eligible to vote in the ballot.

Addressing a crowd of about 400 people, Mr Corbyn said enlightened employers saw strong unions were a boost to the economy, not a "drag" on it.
