Euro 2016: Ex-PM Gordon Brown keeps mum on favourite
Former prime minister Gordon Brown has said he is looking forward to a feast of football at the Euro 2016 football tournament which kicks off in France this weekend.
Speaking to BBC Wales at the Hay Festival, the proud Scotsman and Raith Rovers fan told reporter Carl Roberts he was disappointed his own country had failed to qualify alongside the other UK nations.
But he said that with England, Wales, and Northern Ireland in action - along with the Republic of Ireland - there was plenty of excitement in store for British fans.
Ever the politician, Mr Brown would not name a favourite team, but he praised Wales star Gareth Bale as a world-class player who would have a great influence on the tournament.
