Aberfan 'solidarity and resilience' tribute from Theresa May
The prime minister has paid tribute to the people of Aberfan in the week of the 50th anniversary of the disaster.
One hundred and forty four people died, most of them children, when a mountain of coal waste collapsed and engulfed the school in the village near Merthyr Tydfil on 21 October 1966.
At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Theresa May said the people of Aberfan had shown great "solidarity and resilience" to overcome a "powerful tragedy".
