Union strike rule relaxation 'not positive politics'

Rules making it harder to call strikes in public services will be scrapped in Wales under plans to repeal parts of the UK government's 2016 Trade Union Act.

Welsh Labour has pledged to ditch restrictions on industrial action in the NHS, the fire service, schools and other devolved services.

Finance Secretary Mark Drakeford said UK ministers should not impose "their way of doing things" on Wales, where he claimed it was shown there was more to be gained by talking to people rather than confrontation.

But Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies said public services in Wales would not be improved by making it easier to strike.
