Severn tolls Tory pledge 'chutzpah' condemned by Jones

The Conservatives will scrap the Severn Bridge tolls if they win the general election, Theresa May has said, predicting a £100m economic boost.

The pledge goes further than the existing plan to halve the tolls - currently £6.70 for cars - by 2018.

A Labour spokesman said the party was committed to working with the Welsh Government to end the charges.

When Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies hailed the pledge in the Senedd, First Minister Carwyn Jones said he welcomed the Tories' conversion to a move rival parties had been demanding for years.
