Assembly name change 'not a priority' for AMs, says presiding officer

Changing the name of the Welsh Assembly to Welsh Parliament is not a priority for the institution, the presiding officer Elin Jones has said.

The Assembly Commission has decided to go ahead with the change, albeit later in the assembly term.

Ms Jones said it is not the most important issue on the minds of the people of Wales, but is part of increasing the understanding of the powers of the institution.

"We've taken the decision not to undertake some kind of costly rebranding of this place in its entirety, not to move immediately to make the legislative change," she said.
