Principality of Wales brand idea welcomed by tourism boss
North Wales Tourism managing director Jim Jones has welcomed a Welsh Government minister's idea to promote Wales as a "principality" despite criticism from others.
Lord Elis-Thomas, recently appointed minister for culture, tourism and sport, said the Prince of Wales was as "enthusiastic" as he was about the idea.
Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood denounced it as an "out-dated gimmick" while Plaid MP Jonathan Edwards accused the minister of "rejoicing in Wales' vassal status" and "inherent subservience".
But Mr Jones said he welcomed any idea that could raise the profile of Wales internationally.
