Japan's Prime Minister survives challenge to leadership

Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan has survived a challenge to his leadership from within his own party after only being in office three months.

His opponent was veteran politician Ichiro Osawa.

Mr Kan kept his job but his economic challenge is increasingly clear as today the yen hit a fresh 15-year high against the dollar.

Alastair Leithead reports.
