Syria: UK threatens to push for international sanctions

Britain will push for international sanctions against Syria unless it ends its "brutal repression" of anti-government protesters.

Speaking in the commons, the foreign secretary William Hague also said the government was prepared to evacuate any Britons stranded in the violence there.

A Syrian human rights group claims at least four hundred civilians have been killed since the uprising began a month ago.

Foreign journalists are barred from Syria, but Matthew Price sent this report from the border with Jordan.
