Hague: Malala 'an inspirational example to young people'
The UK's foreign secretary has said a 14-year-old Pakistani girl shot in the head by Taliban gunmen is "an inspirational example to young people".
William Hague said that "the United Kingdom stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Pakistan in fighting terrorism", as it emerged that she was being flown to Birmingham for treatment.
Mr Hague spoke of a "wave of public revulsion in Pakistan and around the world" - the child was transported in an air ambulance provided by the United Arab Emirates.
