Malala Yousafzai calls on UN for better education

The Pakistani teenager, Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Taliban is marking her 16th birthday with an address to the United Nations on the need for children around the world to be given the chance to go to school.

The teenager was targeted last October for campaigning for girls' education but made a remarkable recovery and is now studying in England.

The situation in her own country remains dire with 3.3-million girls under nine not in education.

Latest figures show Pakistan has the second highest number of children out of school in the world.
