China before UN for human rights review

China has appeared before the UN human rights council in Geneva, for a review of its human rights record.

China acknowledged that it has room to improve, but insists it has reduced poverty and improved protections of ethnic minorities.

All UN member states have their human rights record examined by the UN every four years.
