Greenpeace protester Anthony Perrett released from jail

A British man arrested by the Russian authorities in September has been freed on bail.

Anthony Perrett, from Newport in South Wales was taken into custody along with 30 others following a Greenpeace protest in the Arctic.

Mr Perrett was released along with freelance journalist Kieron Bryan, the first of the six Britons to leave detention.

The move followed court hearings in St Petersburg.

Mr Perrett is a tree surgeon and director of a community interest company which encourages and supports the use of renewable energy.

He said he was pleased to be out of jail but there was still "a lot of work to do to save the Arctic."
