Festive new year cheer onboard ship trapped in Antarctic

Despite being trapped in Antarctic ice for more than a week, dozens of crew and passengers on board the Akademik Shokalskiy have celebrated the new year with good cheer.

Rescue attempts by French, Chinese and Australian ice breakers battling tough weather conditions have so far failed to reach the stranded ship.
