Malaysia plane MH370: Robotic sub mission aborted

The robot submarine sent to search for wreckage from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has had its first mission cut short.

It began scouring the bed of the southern Indian Ocean to try to determine whether signals detected last week by sound-locating equipment were from the plane's flight recorders.

The robotic submersible Bluefin-21 exceeded its depth safety limit, as Phil Mercer reports from Perth.
