The International Monetary Fund's Christine Lagarde has said she is flattered to be suggested for a role in the EU as her next post, but it was more important to focus on the institution than the individual.

When Andrew Marr suggested that she might consider being Queen, she replied: "I don't want to offend Her Majesty".
