Iraq: US military to help trapped Yazidi refugees
The United States is sending 130 military personnel to help around 30,000 Yazidi refugees trapped on Mount Sinjar in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel has stressed that it is not a combat operation but a humanitarian one.
The UN estimates around 150,000 civilians, fleeing from the militant group Islamic State (IS), will attempt to reach camps and aid set up by international organisations.
