A North Korean defector's story

For decades North Korea has been one of the world's most secretive societies, and as a result one of the best ways to understand the country is through the testimony of those who have escaped. Their accounts are invariably moving, horrifying, and inspiring.

BBC Newsnight's Katie Razzall spent a day with 21-year-old defector Yeon Mi Park who is trying to bring the plight of the country to the attention of the rest of the world.
