Eritrea: A look into one of the world's most secretive countries
Eritrea is one of the most closed countries in the world, with no independent media or political opposition and a widely criticised human rights record.
At least 150 of the victims of last weekend's shipwreck in the Mediterranean are thought to have come from Eritrea.
New figures seen by the BBC show the number of refugees from Eritrea arriving in the UK doubled last year to more than 3,000, the highest number from any single country.
So what is driving record numbers of mainly young men to leave East Africa and try to reach Europe and the UK?
