#Bringbackourgirls who escaped Boko Haram 'stigmatised'

The Nigerian schoolgirls, who were kidnapped and raped by Boko Haram face mistrust and hostility by their families and wider communities after escaping the radical Islamist group, found a report for International Alert and UNICEF.

The women, whose kidnap in 2014 led to the #bringbackourgirls social media campaign, were initially labelled as ‘Boko Haram wives’ but over time they did re-integrate once trust was re-built; whereas the children were stigmatised due to their “bad blood”, said report author Kim Toogood to the Today programme.
