Global pledge to stamp out drug-resistant infections

All 193 members of the United Nations are about to sign a landmark agreement, promising to tackle drug-resistant infections - or superbugs.

The declaration will recognise anti-microbial resistance as one of the biggest threats to global health.

The problem has been caused by the overuse of medicines such as antibiotics, which has allowed bugs to develop resistance to treatment.
