Police fire tear gas at Tunisian protesters
Tunisian police have fired tear gas at rioters in the capital Tunis as thousands of demonstrators demand the resignation of President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.
The government has been dismissed and the parliament dissolved after weeks of protests over corruption, unemployment and high food prices.
Elections for a new parliament will be within six months, but it is unclear what will happen in the meantime.
Sam Clayton, a US citizen in Tunis, spoke to the BBC's Sue Thearle and said he had no plans to leave the country despite the troubles.
