People power builds momentum in Egypt

The pressure on Egypt's embattled president is about to increase as million strong marches are being planned in both Cairo and Alexandria, while there are also calls for a general strike.

The protesters are bouyed up by the announcement from the military that it will not use force against those who have taken to the streets to demand the President's resignation.

The statement is a major blow to Hosni Mubarak's hopes of staying in office. It follows signs that the new government is prepared to begin talking to the opposition.

Jeremy Bowen reports from Cairo.
