Sudanese vote to create the world's newest nation

Southern Sudan voted overwhelmingly for independence, election officials have confirmed.

They said nearly 99% of the voters in January's referendum were in favour of dividing Africa's biggest country.

By July the world's newest nation will be created and Africa will gain a 54th state.

But there are likely to be hard times ahead, as James Copnall reports.
